This site represents my teaching practice, ideas, and experiences in education, serving as a platform to foster meaningful conversations within a field I am deeply passionate about.

I am Guy Calaf Stimson, an educator, former photojournalist, and visual storyteller currently teaching Photography and Design at Perth Modern School, Western Australia's only academically selective school. Having spent over a decade as a war photographer capturing complex human stories, I transitioned into education, bringing global perspectives and real-world insights to the classroom.

My mission is to inspire and empower students by creating inclusive learning environments where creativity intersects with academic rigour. I believe deeply in Sir Ken Robinson’s view that the primary role of an educator is to help students discover their "element," the powerful intersection between their passions and their talents.

Through visual media, I actively collaborate to communicate and embed Perth Modern School’s core values within our broader community of practice. Moving forward, my passion lies in Teaching for Impact, a reflective and evidence-informed approach to education focused on creating measurable positive change in student outcomes. I aim to grow as a teacher-leader and educational researcher, particularly exploring student voice and co-design practices to drive authentic, meaningful learning experiences.

"As I see it, the aims of education are to enable students to understand the world around them and the talents within them so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens"
